How to Measure Your Ring Size
To ensure you choose the correct ring size, follow these simple steps. You will need a piece of string, a ruler, and a pen or marker.
Tools You Need
- A piece of string or a strip of paper
- A ruler
- A pen or marker
Steps to Measure
Step 1: Wrap the String or Paper Around Your Finger
Wrap a piece of string or a strip of paper around the base of your finger. Ensure it is snug but not too tight.
Step 2: Mark the String or Paper
Use a pen or marker to mark the point where the end of the string or paper meets the rest of it.
Step 3: Measure the String or Paper
Lay the string or paper flat and use a ruler to measure the length from the start to the mark. This measurement is the circumference of your finger.
Step 4: Find Your Ring Size
Use the measurement to find your ring size on a ring size chart. You can find many ring size charts online or visit a jeweler for assistance.
Notes
- Measure at the End of the Day: Finger size changes throughout the day. Measure your finger at the end of the day when it’s at its largest.
- Avoid Cold and Hot Temperatures: Your fingers can shrink or swell in different temperatures. Measure at a normal room temperature.
- Use the Wider Finger: If you’re between sizes, it’s better to go up a size rather than down. You can also measure the wider finger if your ring is for a specific finger, like the index or middle finger.
